Christmas in July is the best! How fun is it to put on some festive music, bake cookies, and get a jump start on holiday sewing during the summer!! I am always so happy when I get holiday sewing and shopping done early!
Christopher from The Tattooed Quilter, Bev from Flamingo Toes and I teamed up to bring you a weekend of Christmas quilting fun! Each day we will be showing you a new table runner pattern that is totally free – a gift to show we love you!!
My inspiration for the table runner came because I love decorating farmhouse style! I love the casual rustic feel and the neutral color palate.
The classic fir tree green, the neutrals, the pop of black, and the deep cranberry red all give this table runner a farm-y feel.
Also be aware…you may think the table runner is a pretty item to add to your home decor but cats have another purpose for it – a soft and warm place to sleep!!
The fabrics I used are from the collection Farmhouse Christmas by Riley Blake Designs.
This runner uses 12″ blocks and finishes at 49″ x 21″. You could totally make this runner longer by adding more blocks.
You can also turn this runner into a full quilt if you like by adding more blocks and sashing the blocks the same way as the runner. I LOVE it as a quilt and am hoping to make this soon!!!
You can download the patter by clicking HERE.
Also as a bonus Bev designed 3 amazing cross stitch patterns to coordinate with each of our designs! You can get my version by clicking HERE.
These are so darling and are super simple to make! Stitch some up now so you can have them as gifts for Christmas!
One more bonus – my favorite Christmas Cookie recipe – “Cookie Gun Cookies” is what we call them. You use a cookie press and add some sprinkles! They are soooo yummy and go perfectly with Hot Chocolate! We always have a plate of these on the counter all December!
You can find my recipe by clicking HERE.
And now a few more pictures of Baby Mufasa – he’s the best quilt model ever – I don’t even have to tell him what to do!

Oh, my goodness, everything is beautiful and inspirational and motivating, but that is the most unusual cat I think I have ever seen. Stunningly and overwhelmingly beautiful! Wow!
I love your pattern and cat Meowdel
Very cute table runner! I know I used to follow you and somehow lost track of your blog:( So glad I found it again! Now to check out some past posts that I haven’t seen.
Thank you, once again, for your thoughtful and lovely patterns. I can hardly wait to make these! A boost of holiday spirit is so very welcome right now! Merry Christmas Amanda
Ok, I’m not a cat person at all. That is the most beautiful cat I’ve seen. What kind is it?
Amanda what a lovely pattern. Your tree block is fantastic.
Amanda, you’re the greatest! Thanks so much for this adorable table runner pattern.
Love the table runner and the cookies! My mom made cookie gun (spritz) cookies every Christmas just like yours, and I do too. We also made them in wreath shapes with chocolate chips in the middle.

I ordered patterns tonight on MGQS watching you and Jenn this evening, and then went to your website. I enjoyed seeing the photos of your sweet furbaby Mufasa modeling with the Christmas runner pattern. He is gorgeous! Thank you for the cute pattern.
I’m finishing up the FMQ on this table runner this month. It’s going to go on our dining room table this Christmas. I did make it longer, so it would fit the table with the leaf inserted for a family dinner. We will also have the Mod Meow Christmas quilt on the couch for the cats to lay on, too, so they stay off the dining room table! 😂 There’s a story behind that: I made a bed runner a while back for my mom’s bed. She has 4 cats, and they love to curl up on it, so I started the tradition of making something for the cats every time I make something for the house. It’s a win-win for all of us!
Hi, its maybe just me, I have purchased the fabric to make the farmhouse christmas runner, and the instructions says 1/3rd yard of cream holly fabric, which is 12 inches…….. instructions says cut 1 WOF 3.5″ wide, (for xmas tree), then is says cut 4 strips WOF 2.5″ for the sashing, this adds up to 13.5″, and yet material to purchase says 1/3rd yrd, I havent started sewing yet, but my thinking Im 1.5″ short for this material, and I missing something….
Thank you so much for sharing these Christmas patterns (and recipe) with us!
Amanda – this table runner is awesome! Is there a way to print the PDF pattern larger? My friend is having to use a magnifying glass to read it…
