Peppermint Forest Cross Stitch Patterns

My darling friend Bev from Flamingo Toes designed these adorable cross stitch ornaments to coordinate with my Peppermint Forest Quilt Pattern.

In fact you will want to collect them all – so hop over to her website and also to The Tattooed Quilter!

These stitch up super fast and would make darling gifts for friends. Also now might be a good time to teach your kids how to cross-stitch!! My girls love it!

Peppermint Forest Table Runner and Quilt Pattern

I know “Christmas in July” is a little cliche but given what’s going on in the world I keep singing “We need a little Christmas…right this very moment!!!”

It feels like everything has been cancelled and its bad news all the time. Christmas cheer might just be what we need!!

My friends Bev from Flamingo Toes and Christopher from the Tattooed Quilter and I decided to do something fun, to spread some early and much needed Christmas Cheer!

So this weekend we are sharing with you 3 patterns for Christmas table runners! Each pattern uses 12″ blocks so they can be interchanged or even made into a quilt! You could also make a small wall hanging or a pillow with the designs! Get creative!

My pattern is called Peppermint Forest. I used Santa Clause Lane by Riley Blake Designs which I’m super in love with!!!

This quilt project comes together super easy! AND if you are super ambitious you can even make a quilt out of the blocks!!

You can download the pattern by clicking HERE.

Mufasa totally approves this project!!

I hope this little project brightens your day!!! Be sure to follow along and post your progress – use the tag #peppermintforestquilt and #needalittlechristmasprojects

My FAVORITE Gingerbread Cookies

Part of our Christmas in July extravangazek is sharing a favorite Christmas Cookie Recipe! This totally is my favorite! This recipe has been in our family for almost 40 years and you can’t beat it!

Gingerbread Cookies

1/4 cup butter, soft

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup molasses

1/3 cup water

3 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon cloves

1 rounded teaspoon cinnamon

2 teaspoons ginger

1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.  Whisk together.  Set aside.

In a stand mixer, beat butter, brown sugar and molasses.  Add the water and beat, scraping the sides. (mixture will look weird – don’t freak out!)

Slowly add the dry ingredients.  Mix until well combined.  (If it happens to be crumbly or seem dry, add a tablespoon of water)

Roll out dough about 1/4″ thick on a floured surface.  Cut desired shapes with cookie cutters.

Place on parchment lined baking sheets, or ungreased baking sheets and bake for 8 minutes.

Double the recipe if you want them to last more than a day!!

Store in air-tight container.

You can use royal icing to decorate or dip in chocolate.  We like to use the Ghiradelli dipping wafers.

Mod Meow Sneak Peek

I am super excited to share a sneak peek of my newest fabric line Mod Meow coming out in January 2021! I am participating in Riley Blake’s Virtual Quilt Market since we can’t all be together.

Mod Meow is inspired by mid century colors and style with a contemporary feel for today’s quilter! And of course inspired by life with cats!!

The colors are versatile and can work into any quilt project: gold, aqua, pink, green, teal, and red – all my favorites!

And it gets better! There are 2 border prints which are super fun for tote bags, dress hems, pillows, and fussy cutting!

And even more fun is this cat panel that has each of the funky felines so you can applique them to projects like pillows, bags, wall hangings, and this super fun cat post quilt!!

There are lots of fun new quilt patterns releasing with this fabric line! I can’t wait to make them all!!!

I hope you like this little sneak peek! There will be lots more fun things coming as we get closer to the fall!!

Scaredy Cat Tote Bag

I made these fun little tote bags for quilt market and they are the perfect size for Trick or Treating, a library bag, or a car ride to grandma’s house!
